GUIDELINES AND RESERVATION PROCEDURES

OCA Mocha’s mission is to create a shared space and experience that fosters ongoing engagement between UMBC and its surrounding communities. Consistent with that mission, UMBC and community groups may reserve the OCA Mocha community meeting room for meetings and other events. We encourage groups to look for opportunities to think outside the box and collaborate on events that will enrich our community.

The community meeting room is open to groups such as:

  • Community interest groups;

  • UMBC undergraduate and graduate student organizations;

  • Non-profit organizations;

  • UMBC faculty and staff organizations;

  • Local, state, and federal government departments and agencies;

  • UMBC academic and administrative departments;

  • Local public, private, and religious schools and homeschool organizations, including parent-teacher organizations and student, faculty, or staff organizations; and

  • For-profit businesses and organizations.

Groups may request reservations up to 364 days in advance of the desired date, but no later than three business days in advance of the desired date.

When the community meeting room is not reserved, OCA Mocha patrons may use it for overflow coffee shop seating and/or as study space. Alcoholic beverages, smoking (including vaping), and illegal activity are prohibited.

SPACE OVERVIEW

The OCA Mocha community meeting room is free to reserve with limited exceptions. The room may be reserved seven days per week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The community meeting room includes seating for up to 36 people, free WiFi, an 85” smart monitor, two white boards, 12 tables, and 36 chairs. Groups may reconfigure the tables and chairs, all of which are on casters; you must return the room to its original configuration at the end of your meeting.

AV OVERVIEW

The community meeting room features an 85” smart monitor and a Webex room kit that interfaces directly with UMBC Webex. The room kit is outfitted with a camera, microphone, and speakers designed for seamless hybrid meetings. You can join a Webex meeting without bringing your own device by using the touchscreen tablet in the room. To use the room kit microphones, speakers, and camera for a non-Webex meeting (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet) or for presentations, you will need to bring a laptop to connect. An HDMI cable is readily available in the room, and a Mac adaptor is available upon request.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES

In keeping with OCA Mocha’s goal to be “where coffee meets community,” patrons are permitted to bring food and beverages into the meeting room. All food and beverages must be purchased from the OCA Mocha coffee shop; outside food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages, are not permitted. Please contact manager@ocamocha.com for information on catering options for your event. Catering orders must be placed three days before your event.
